Getting Started

What is ResumeIQ?

ResumeIQ is an AI-powered resume intelligence platform that helps you tailor your resume for specific job descriptions, identify what is holding you back from getting interviews, and strengthen how your resume performs in applicant tracking systems (ATS) that most employers use to screen candidates before a human ever sees your application.

Do I need to create an account to use ResumeIQ?

Yes - a free account is required to save your scans, resumes, and results. Signing up takes under two minutes and no credit card is needed to get started on the Free plan.

What file formats can I upload for my resume?

ResumeIQ accepts PDF and Word (.docx) files. For best results, we recommend uploading a Word document as it allows the engine to read and rewrite your resume content most accurately.

What browsers and devices does ResumeIQ work on?

ResumeIQ is a web-based application that works on any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop, tablet, and mobile. For the best experience when reviewing detailed reports, we recommend using a desktop or laptop.

Scanning & Analysis

How does a resume scan work?

Upload your resume, paste in a job description, and hit Scan. ResumeIQ's engine analyses both documents simultaneously - checking how well your resume matches the role's requirements, identifying missing keywords, flagging ATS risks, and evaluating your professional narrative across five dimensions. Results are delivered in seconds.

What is ATS and why does it matter?

ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System - software used by most medium and large employers to filter and rank job applications before a recruiter reads them. If your resume is not formatted correctly or does not contain the right keywords, it may be screened out automatically. ResumeIQ's ATS check identifies the specific formatting issues and missing keywords that could get your resume filtered before it reaches a human.

What are the five ResumeIQ dimensions?

Every resume scan includes a score across five dimensions that reflect how professional recruiters actually evaluate resumes: Clarity - How easy is your career story to follow? High clarity reduces recruiter fatigue. Value - Does your resume demonstrate unique, high-impact contributions or just list responsibilities? Relevance - How closely does your experience map to this specific role and its keywords? Results - Are your achievements backed by numbers and measurable outcomes, or are they vague descriptions? Vagueness - Are hollow buzzwords like 'results-driven' or 'team player' diluting your document's credibility?

What is a match score?

Your match score is a percentage that shows how well your current resume aligns with a specific job description. It combines keyword match, skills alignment, ATS compatibility, and narrative relevance into a single number. A score above 80% generally indicates strong alignment; below 60% signals significant gaps worth addressing before applying.

What is gap analysis?

Gap analysis identifies what is missing from your resume relative to the job you are targeting - specific skills not mentioned, qualifications not evidenced, keywords absent from your content, and experience not articulated clearly enough. Each gap comes with a prioritised recommendation so you know exactly what to fix first.

How accurate is the match scoring?

ResumeIQ's scoring is based on the same keyword hierarchies and structural signals that ATS platforms use, combined with contextual AI analysis of your experience. It is designed to give you an honest, directional read - not a guaranteed outcome. Hiring decisions involve factors beyond the resume, but a higher ResumeIQ score meaningfully improves the probability your resume clears the initial screening stage.

Tailoring & Templates

How does resume tailoring work?

Once you have scanned your resume against a job description, you can trigger a tailored rewrite. The AI rewrites your resume specifically for that role - adjusting language, inserting missing keywords naturally, restructuring bullet points to lead with relevant impact, and matching the seniority tone of the job posting. The result is a version of your resume tailored for that specific application, not a generic rewrite.

Will the tailored resume sound like me?

Yes. ResumeIQ adapts your existing content rather than replacing it. Your achievements, roles, and career history remain intact - the engine improves how they are expressed, not what they say. We recommend reviewing the tailored output before submitting and making any personal adjustments.

What resume templates are available?

Free users have access to three clean, professionally designed standard templates. Pro users unlock 10+ premium templates, all of which are tested for ATS compatibility - meaning they pass machine parsing while still looking polished to human reviewers.

What export formats are available?

Free users can export resumes as Word (.docx) files. Pro users can export as both PDF and Word (.docx). All exports are formatted and ready to submit directly to job applications.

Managing Your Resumes

What is the multi-resume library?

Available on Pro, the multi-resume library lets you store multiple versions of your resume in one place - your base resume, tailored versions for specific roles, and archived copies of past applications. You can compare versions side by side and restore older versions at any time. No more file folders named 'resume_final_v3_ACTUAL_FINAL.docx.'

Can I use ResumeIQ for multiple job applications at the same time?

Absolutely - that is exactly what it is built for. Each scan is independent, so you can match the same base resume against ten different job descriptions and get a tailored version for each one. Pro users have enough credits to comfortably run an active multi-application job search throughout the month.

Can I delete my data or close my account?

Yes. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data - resumes, scans, reports, and personal information - directly from your account settings at any time. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
