A scan is when you upload your resume and match it against a job description. Each scan runs ResumeIQ's full analysis engine - producing a match score, ATS check, searchability check, skills gap report, formatting feedback, and your 5-dimension ResumeIQ profile. One scan = one full report against one job description.

AI credits are the fuel that powers every analysis ResumeIQ runs on your behalf. When you scan a resume, the engine reads your resume, reads the job description, and runs multiple AI checks in parallel - all of which consume credits based on the amount of text involved. Think of credits like data on a mobile plan: the more analysis you run, the more credits are used. Your credits reset at the start of every billing period.

Because every resume and job description is different. A two-page resume matched against a detailed 600-word job description uses more credits than a one-page resume matched against a brief 200-word posting. On average, one scan uses around 75 credits - but a longer resume or a more detailed JD may use slightly more. This is why we provide credit allowances rather than a fixed scan count.

As a rough guide: Free (2,000 credits) is about 26 scans, and Pro (10,000 credits) is about 130 scans. Keep in mind: resume tailoring (Auto Tailor Resume) also consumes credits, as the AI rewrites your resume for a specific role. On Pro, you have more than enough credits for active job seekers running multiple applications every week.

A scan analyses your existing resume against a job description and tells you how well it matches, what's missing, and what to improve. A tailored resume goes one step further - the AI rewrites your resume to target that specific role, inserting relevant keywords, adjusting tone, and restructuring content. Tailoring consumes more credits than a scan because it generates new content, not just analysis.

Your scans and tailoring will pause until your credits reset at the start of your next billing period. You won't lose any data or saved resumes. If you're running low frequently, upgrading to Pro gives you 10,000 credits per month - enough for most active job seekers. We'll notify you when your credits are running low so you're never caught off guard.

No. Credits reset at the end of each billing period and do not roll over. We recommend planning your scans across the month rather than saving them all for the last week.

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your account settings. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. If you upgrade mid-cycle, you'll get the Pro credit allocation from your next billing date.

Completely. Your resume data is encrypted at rest and in transit, never shared with third parties, and never used to train AI models. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings.
